DBS Group Highlights Opportunity in Indian Government Securities Amid Rising Yields

Economist Sherilyn Chew from DBS Group Research has pointed out that increasing geopolitical tensions are raising yields across Asia. However, she sees a promising opportunity in Indian government securities. Chew explains that the recent sell-off of Indian bonds can primarily be attributed to macroeconomic adjustments, rather than any worsening of the country’s economic fundamentals.

She notes that support from foreign investors remains strong, and the ongoing demand within India’s market will likely keep it stable. Chew believes that the recent spike in yields is temporary and should settle down once markets regain confidence.

In her view, this period of adjustment presents a strategic chance for investors to consider increasing their investments in the 10-year bond sector, taking advantage of favorable prices as risk sentiment improves.
