Djokovic Shines in Wimbledon with Prank and Victory
Novak Djokovic combined skill with a sense of humor to secure his spot in the third round of Wimbledon 2026, leaving fans on Centre Court entertained with a playful prank involving a ball girl before showcasing his impressive game.
During a break in his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Djokovic lightened the mood by asking a ball girl to help him with a tag on his shirt. As Tsitsipas took a comfort break, the Serbian jokingly pretended the girl had hurt him while removing the tag, playfully clutching his neck and momentarily startling her. He quickly revealed it was all in fun, bringing smiles to the crowd.
This amusing moment quickly gained attention online, with fans appreciating Djokovic’s playful side. After the match, the 24-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged that his mood likely influenced the joke, as he was leading in the match.
“I guess these kinds of things happen when you’re ahead,” Djokovic said with a grin. “I hope I didn’t scare her too much. It seemed to lighten the mood for both of us.”
Djokovic then showed his tennis prowess, breezing past Tsitsipas with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in a match that lasted under two hours. The Serbian is aiming for a record-equaling eighth Wimbledon title and a historic 25th Grand Slam singles title. He has now extended his winning streak against Tsitsipas to 12 matches.
Having faced Wu Yibing in a tougher first-round match, Djokovic looked sharper against Tsitsipas, dominating his serve and effectively targeting Tsitsipas’ backhand. The 39-year-old won an impressive 82% of points on his first serve and seized crucial moments to thwart any chance of a comeback from Tsitsipas.
With this win, Djokovic is on track for another strong performance at the All England Club. Seeded seventh this year, he might face defending champion Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals if both players continue winning.
Next up for Djokovic is a match against France’s Arthur Rinderknech as he strives to add another Wimbledon trophy to his impressive collection.
