WhatsApp Tests New Animation for Message Bubbles on iPhone
WhatsApp is currently trialing a fresh animation feature for message bubbles on iPhones. This marks the return of an effect that was previously removed in earlier updates.
Users enrolled in the iOS beta program through Apple’s TestFlight have been the first to notice this change. According to WABetaInfo, the updated animation allows messages to appear more gracefully in chat conversations.
Instead of popping up immediately, message bubbles will now smoothly fade in while slightly growing before settling down in the chat. This enhancement aims to create a more fluid and appealing messaging experience.
Additionally, WhatsApp plans to introduce a dedicated setting that lets users turn off message animations for a more straightforward chatting experience. This option can be found in Settings > Chats > Animations, providing users with more control over how their WhatsApp behaves.
This new feature was first seen in the Android beta version just last week and is now being evaluated on iOS, indicating that Meta aims to unify the experience across both platforms.
Currently, only a small group of beta testers have access to this animation. As usual with WhatsApp’s beta updates, wider testing is likely before it becomes available to all users.
Although there’s no official information regarding when the animated message bubbles will be fully launched, the fact that testing is happening on both Android and iPhone suggests it could be rolled out to all WhatsApp users in the near future.
This update highlights WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to enhance the messaging experience with subtle but effective improvements, while also allowing users more options for customization and accessibility.
