Box Office Update: ‘Obsession’ Continues to Shine Amidst New Releases
This week has seen a flurry of new film releases, but Obsession has proven to be a strong contender at the box office. As of June 12, the film entered its third week with a collection of Rs. 3.50 crores. Remarkably, this amount is higher than its earnings on its second Friday, which were Rs. 3.30 crores. This trend suggests that Obsession may continue to outperform its previous weeks, potentially collecting more in its third week than it did in the second.
In comparison to new releases like Haunted – Echoes Of The Past, Main Vaapas Aaunga, and others, Obsession has outperformed them significantly. While Haunted surprised many by earning Rs. 2.72 crores, it still lagged behind Obsession’s steady draw.
Notably, Mumbai’s Regal Cinema has opted to replace two struggling films, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and Main Vaapas Aaunga, with Obsession, showcasing its popularity. The cinema will now screen Obsession across all four shows, recognizing the film’s strong audience turnout.
In addition, Obsession has started screening in other theatres like Mukta A2 Sun City and Gold Santacruz. A trade expert commented on the film’s surprising success, saying, “The word has spread, and now it’s appealing to a broader audience.”
Ticket prices at these venues remain affordable, making it easier for fans to enjoy the film. Regal is selling tickets for Rs. 150, Rs. 200, and Rs. 250, while Sun City offers morning shows for just Rs. 130.
During its first week, Obsession brought in Rs. 18.55 crores, followed by Rs. 31.28 crores in its second week. With total earnings now exceeding Rs. 53.33 crores after 15 days, it stands a good chance of joining the Rs. 100 crore club if its momentum continues.
In summary, Obsession has not only maintained its position at the box office but is also expanding its reach, drawing in viewers from various demographics while offering a budget-friendly movie experience.
