Title: India Criticizes Pakistan for Misleading Claims Amid Protests in POK
NEW DELHI: The Indian government has sharply criticized Pakistan for spreading false information, particularly regarding the violent protests occurring in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). India is calling on the international community to hold Pakistan responsible for its actions and human rights violations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the rise in fake news and misleading videos from Pakistan. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “This is a desperate strategy by Pakistan to mask its own failures and divert attention from the serious human rights issues at hand. There have been alarming reports of police brutality in POK, with many protesters reportedly killed and injured.”
India’s comments came shortly after Pakistan’s Human Rights Commission expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in POK during recent clashes. They also voiced alarm over the regional government’s decision to ban the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) under anti-terrorism laws. JAAC has been advocating for the abolition of twelve “refugee seats” in the legislative assembly, which are designated for Kashmiri refugees who moved to Pakistan post-1947. The committee claims these seats are manipulated by major Pakistani political parties for their own benefit.
In response to the situation, India has lodged a formal protest against Pakistan, emphasizing that POK has been “illegally and forcibly” occupied.
