Mitchell Elegbe Reappointed to EY World Entrepreneur Jury
Mitchell Elegbe, the Founder and CEO of Interswitch Group, has been reappointed as the only African entrepreneur on the global jury for the 2026 Ernst & Young (EY) World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This marks his third consecutive year serving in this prestigious role, which takes place every June in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
According to EY, the World Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame includes exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to entrepreneurship. Elegbe stands out as he has made history by being the first entrepreneur ever to win awards in both the emerging and master categories in the past 40 years.
The program has honored over 10,000 remarkable entrepreneurs who have displayed vision, innovation, courage, and leadership in creating and expanding successful businesses. These businesses not only impact local communities but also play a vital role in global markets.
For the 2026 awards, Elegbe is among a select group of nine former finalists chosen to judge the upcoming entries. The jury includes accomplished entrepreneurs from countries like Australia, Brazil, Germany, Hong Kong & China, Nigeria, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
Elegbe is recognized as a key figure in Nigeria’s payment innovation sector and has gained international acclaim for his impactful contributions. His work has significantly influenced the economic landscape of Nigeria and Africa as a whole, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to technological advancement.
