Arnav Paparkar’s Journey at Roland Garros 2026 Ends in the Third Round

Arnav Paparkar’s exciting run in the Boys’ Singles event at Roland Garros 2026 came to a close in the third round. The young Indian talent showcased his skills on a big stage, leaving fans optimistic about his future.

The 18-year-old Paparkar drew attention earlier in the tournament with his calm playing style and ability to handle pressure. However, in the round of 16, he faced a tough opponent in fourth-seed Jack Kennedy from the United States. On Court 11, Kennedy proved to be a formidable challenge, winning the match 7-5, 6-2 in just over an hour and a half.

Throughout the match, Paparkar struggled to find his rhythm. Kennedy consistently applied pressure from the baseline, exploiting weaknesses in Paparkar’s serve and backhand. Although Paparkar displayed flashes of brilliance with some well-executed shots and long rallies, he had difficulty maintaining consistency. His first serve percentage was low in crucial moments, which allowed Kennedy to seize early control.

Challenges Under Pressure

A notable issue for Paparkar was the number of unforced errors he made at critical times, particularly during deuce and break-point situations. Even when he managed to recover from tight scores, he tended to follow up with hasty or mistimed shots, giving Kennedy the advantage. Extended rallies exposed Paparkar’s inconsistency, as he struggled to choose the right shots when under pressure.

While he did hold serve on a few occasions, Paparkar couldn’t build momentum or keep the heat on his opponent. Eventually, he lost the first set 7-5.

In the second set, Kennedy increased his intensity and took full advantage of Paparkar’s declining performance. Paparkar’s serve became less reliable, and his backhand errors became more frequent. Kennedy dominated the return games, breaking Paparkar’s serve efficiently and applying relentless pressure. Despite managing to hold serve sometimes, Paparkar couldn’t find a way back into the match, and Kennedy closed it out with a 6-2 victory.

For Indian tennis, Paparkar’s experience in Paris serves as a hopeful sign for the junior circuit. While the result against Kennedy revealed the challenges faced at the highest levels, it also provided Paparkar with valuable experience competing against top-tier opponents in a Grand Slam setting.
