Hyderabad: New Housing Plans to Benefit Urban Poor

On Saturday, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the Revenue and Housing Minister, announced plans for the construction of Indiramma flats in Hyderabad. These new housing units will be built right in the areas where urban poor families currently live. This approach aims to ensure that residents can maintain their livelihoods while transitioning to the new homes.

The Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, is expected to lay the foundation stone for these housing units soon in the CURE area. Ponguleti stated that he has instructed officials to finish the project within a year.

The government plans to create a total of 100,000 housing units, with an immediate focus on starting over 12,000 units as part of a pilot project.

During the announcement, Ponguleti was joined by fellow ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin after laying the foundation stone for a new integrated sub-registrar office building in Banjara Hills. This new facility aims to streamline services from various departments such as stamps, registration, and surveys under one roof.

The modernized approach will affect 13 sub-registrar offices in the CURE area, which will now operate in a more corporate-style format. Ponguleti said that the offices in Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, Banjara Hills, and Golconda, along with the DIG office and other departments, will all be included in this integrated building. He believes this initiative will enhance public services while creating more jobs and business opportunities in the region.
