FWICE Addresses Ranveer Singh’s Walkout from Don 3

In a recent press conference, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) officials spoke about the ongoing dispute involving Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh regarding Singh’s unexpected departure from the film Don 3.

Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit explained that Farhan Akhtar had filed a complaint with the IFTDA (Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association) after Ranveer withdrew just three weeks before filming was set to begin. During the meeting, Akhtar, who joined via Zoom from London, provided details of the situation alongside producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

Pandit shared that they had reached out to Ranveer Singh multiple times over ten days to get his side of the story, but did not receive a response. Just before the press conference, they received an email claiming that FWICE should not be involved in the matter.

Birendra Nath Tiwari, another official, emphasized the impact of such a withdrawal, stating, “When a film is halted unexpectedly, it affects thousands of workers. This represents a significant loss.” He added that the federation aims to protect the rights of workers and producers alike, hence their decision to implement a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer until the issue is resolved.

Ashok Dubey stated that all FWICE members, from directors to crew members, would cease working with Ranveer during this period. This also extends to advertising projects, involving many of the same individuals and vendors.

When asked about compensation, Ashoke Pandit confirmed that Farhan Akhtar’s team is requesting Rs. 45 crores, an amount they have documented and are prepared to discuss.

Both parties remain open to dialogue, with Pandit expressing hope for a resolution that satisfies everyone involved.
