Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has addressed growing speculation about her marital status, which has been trending on social media. This frenzy started after a paparazzi video appeared online, showing her in a traditional pink salwar suit, complete with a mangalsutra, bindi, and green bangles. Many fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that she had secretly gotten married.
On May 22, Kangana took to her Instagram stories to clarify the situation. She posted a message addressing the rumors alongside her viral look, stating that it was simply part of her character makeup for a film she is working on.
Adding a humorous note, she remarked, “I’m filming in and around the city every day, and someone took this random picture. Now I’m getting so many phone calls 😂. What’s the big deal about the married woman look? Actors play all kinds of roles; I promise I won’t get married secretly! 😁🙏”
While she effectively dispelled the marriage rumors, Kangana did not mention which specific project she was filming at the time of the video.
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in the film Emergency (2025), which marked her solo directorial debut after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi in 2019, where she shared directing duties.
Looking forward, she is preparing for her next big release, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, which is set to hit theaters on June 12. The film, directed by Manoj Tapadia, tells the story of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and primarily unfolds in a hospital setting.
