Police Discover Skeletal Remains Near Lake Outside City
On Saturday, police reported the finding of human skeletal remains, including a skull, believed to belong to a woman, in and around a lake located on the city’s outskirts.
The remains were first spotted by shepherds who were grazing cattle near Mugalur, close to Sarjapur. Upon noticing the bones, they immediately alerted the authorities.
Investigators arrived at the scene and discovered bones scattered across the dry bed of the lake and its surrounding area. A senior police officer mentioned that the remains are suspected to have been there for at least three months.
Authorities believe the woman may have drowned in the lake, as the skeletal remains surfaced after water levels significantly dropped during the summer months. Additionally, there’s a possibility that stray dogs may have moved some of the remains to nearby locations after the lake became shallower.
Among the findings, pieces of a saree were recovered, which led the police to think that the remains could belong to a woman.
Forensic experts and a Scene of Crime Officer team were called in to collect the skeletal evidence for further examination. A case has been opened, and the remains, alongside other collected items, have been sent for forensic analysis.
As of now, the identity of the deceased and the exact cause of death remain unknown.
