Weather Alert: Rising Temperatures in Lucknow and Beyond
Lucknow: It’s getting hot in Lucknow, as temperatures hit 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this May. This warm spell follows a series of thunderstorms that kept the weather cooler in the early days of the month. May is usually when temperatures soar, reaching between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Lucknow noted that the warmth began to creep back up once the thunderstorms subsided about a week ago. Experts predict that temperatures could climb even higher, possibly reaching 43 degrees Celsius by this weekend.
Other areas in the state are also feeling the heat. Banda recorded the highest temperature at 44.8 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Jhansi at 44.1 degrees, and Prayagraj at 44 degrees.
IMD senior scientist Mohammad Danish has cautioned that the state could experience serious heatwave conditions, particularly in the southern regions, between May 19 and May 22.
