Celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim has stirred conversations within the entertainment world after sharing a powerful message on social media about treating the creative professionals who work behind the scenes. Using Instagram, Aalim emphasized the need to respect the artists and crew who play vital roles in shaping a celebrity’s public image.
On May 15, 2026, Aalim posted a note that stated, “RESPECT THE ARTISTS BEHIND THE STAR. Hairdressers. Makeup Artists. Stylists. Assistants. Crew Members. Please don’t call them ‘just staff.’”
He pointed out the hard work and dedication of those in creative roles. Aalim wrote, “Behind every public appearance, red carpet moment, film look, and photoshoot, there are talented people pouring in their time and energy to make someone shine.”
He also highlighted the personal sacrifices many crew members endure while working in the industry. “Many of these artists leave their homes before sunrise, stand for long hours, and miss out on family events and sleep, just to ensure that the actors look and feel their best,” he noted.
His post seemed to address the disrespect some crew members face from celebrity representatives. He expressed his sadness about seeing managers treating people rudely or taking out their frustrations on crew members, especially for mistakes that are not their fault.
Aalim reminded everyone that such actions can negatively impact an actor’s public image—all without the actors even realizing it. “Sometimes actors don’t know how their image is being affected outside the vanity van due to the behavior of their teams,” he pointed out.
Towards the end, Aalim mentioned that he and his team have decided to stop working with actors whose teams mistreat creative professionals. “We will no longer work with actors whose teams show disrespect or devalue any crew member,” he said.
The post resonated with many in the industry. Actor Rajkummar Rao responded, saying, “Absolutely sir. Respect and Equality are two vital things.” Filmmaker Farah Khan also expressed her approval with a supportive comment.
Aalim’s message has fueled broader discussions about workplace culture in the entertainment industry, highlighting the importance of acknowledging the hard work of technicians, stylists, makeup artists, and others who contribute behind the scenes.
