EAM Jaishankar Promises Simplified Access to OCI Applications for Indian Community in Trinidad and Tobago
During a recent visit, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar assured members of the Indian-origin community in Trinidad and Tobago that the application process for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards will become more streamlined.
He expressed his commitment to making it easier for individuals seeking OCI status, which offers several benefits, including visa-free travel to India and the ability to own property. This initiative is aimed at strengthening ties between India and its diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago.
Jaishankar’s remarks reflect the growing importance of the Indian community in the Caribbean and the Indian government’s effort to foster connections with its citizens living abroad. The minister’s visit was well-received, as many members of the community expressed their gratitude for the support and attention given to their needs.
The changes in the OCI application process are expected to enhance accessibility and provide a smoother experience for applicants, further promoting the bond between India and its global diaspora.
