Support Grows for TVK Amid Political Shifts
The political landscape is changing as various parties rally behind the Tamil Nadu-based party, TVK. Recently, Congress, CPI, and CPM have thrown their support behind TVK, boosting its numbers from 107 to 116 by Friday night. With the addition of VCK and IUML, the total support has now reached 120.
On Saturday evening, TVK’s Aadhav Arjuna received a letter of support from VCK’s Thol Thirumavalavan, following a day filled with uncertainty. Meanwhile, IUML’s national president, Khader Mohideen, handed over his party’s support letter to TVK leaders K A Sengottaiyan and Arunraj.
Thirumavalavan noted that he had informed DMK chief M K Stalin about their decision, and received a positive response. TVK had previously attempted to gain IUML’s support but faced challenges due to IUML’s historical ties with the DMK. It was only after intense discussions that IUML decided to join forces with TVK.
The IUML high-level committee emphasized that supporting a democratic government is crucial to prevent political unrest in the state. They highlighted the expectations of the public, especially the Muslim community, stressing the need for a stable and democratic governance. The party reaffirmed their long-standing alliance with the DMK while taking this step to maintain Tamil Nadu’s political traditions and prevent the possibility of President’s Rule.
