TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Friday that he successfully received treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, although he did not reveal when the treatment occurred.

In a social media statement accompanying his annual medical report, Netanyahu, 76, shared that a malignant tumor was found during a routine health check. He mentioned that “targeted treatment” effectively addressed the issue, leaving no traces behind.

The medical report stated that Netanyahu is in good health overall and that he underwent radiation therapy for the cancer. However, it did not disclose the date of the treatment.

The prime minister, who is Israel’s longest-serving leader, noted that he postponed the release of his medical report by two months to avoid giving Iran opportunities to spread “false propaganda” against Israel.

Netanyahu Responds to Rescue of U.S. Airman from Iran

In March, amid tensions with Iran, social media and Iranian state media circulated rumors claiming Netanyahu had passed away. To counter these claims, he recorded a video of himself at a café in Jerusalem.

In 2024, he had surgery on his prostate after suffering from a urinary tract infection due to a benign prostate enlargement. Last year, he also received a pacemaker. Upcoming elections in Israel are scheduled for October.
