The buzz around the quirky AI-generated babies in the teaser for Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has been hard to ignore since its debut on April 14. However, sources close to the production have confirmed that these digital youngsters were never meant to appear in the actual film—they were just a clever teaser meant to grab attention.
“It was simply a tactic to spark interest in the film’s storyline,” a source with insider knowledge shared. “The filmmakers wanted a striking way to introduce the love triangle without showing real footage. The idea of AI babies was chosen for the teaser, but that’s where it ended. There won’t be any AI in the final movie.”
Despite the teaser stirring more mockery than excitement, director David Dhawan’s latest project stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in a whirlwind romance. What was intended to evoke nostalgia ended up with a confusing opening scene featuring digitally created infants that many viewers found unsettling and out of touch.
It turns out that the AI segment was developed by a third-party creative agency, separate from the main film. Dhawan has continued to direct the movie in his usual style, focusing on live performances and bringing his instincts into play.
Now, the promotional strategy is shifting. A new trailer showcasing Varun, Mrunal, and Pooja is expected to drop within the next two weeks. The team hopes that once audiences see the actual content, they will appreciate the film more.
Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is set to hit theaters worldwide on May 22, 2026.
