Bhuvneshwar Kumar Impresses in IPL, Leaving Fans in Awe

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised Bhuvneshwar Kumar after the fast bowler delivered an outstanding performance against the Delhi Capitals in the IPL on Saturday. Playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar took three wickets for just 26 runs in four overs. Unfortunately, his team lost the match by six wickets at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Kaif, clearly impressed, highlighted Bhuvneshwar’s enduring talent at the age of 36, noting that he can still challenge top batters and deserves a place in the Indian team. He fondly recalled their time together in the Ranji Trophy, sharing a memory of when Bhuvneshwar achieved the remarkable feat of dismissing cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for a duck.

In his comments, Kaif stated, “Watching Bhuvi bowl so beautifully today brought back memories of when he was just 17. I insisted he get a chance, and he made his Ranji debut, even getting Sachin Paaji out in the final. Even at 36, Bhuvi still troubles the best batsmen with his swing. Why not a comeback for India? He still has it in him.”

Bhuvneshwar has not donned the Indian jersey since the T20I series against New Zealand in 2022. Recently, he made history by becoming the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the IPL, making him the second overall player to reach this milestone after Yuzvendra Chahal.

Bhuvneshwar’s Performance Shines

From his very first over, Bhuvneshwar’s skill was on full display as he expertly moved the ball, keeping batters on their toes. He quickly made his mark by trapping Pathum Nissanka lbw with a superb delivery that showcased his seam movement.

Bhuvneshwar’s brilliance continued as he returned for his second over, dismantling the middle order. He first took out Karun Nair with an impressive change of length, then sent Sameer Rizvi back to the pavilion with an edge to the keeper. At that point, the Delhi Capitals were struggling, and Bhuvneshwar seemed almost unplayable.

Even when the game progressed and the ball lost some of its shine, Bhuvneshwar maintained his impressive control. In his third over, he conceded only five runs, using pinpoint yorkers and subtle variations that made scoring runs a challenge for the batters.

Although Tristan Stubbs managed to hit a boundary late in the innings, Bhuvneshwar’s tight bowling meant that the batters had to work hard for every run.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s recent performance not only reminded fans of his extraordinary talent but also raised questions about a potential return to the national team.
