Major Drug Bust in Jammu: Kingpin Arrested
Jammu: In a significant achievement, the Jammu and Kashmir police have dismantled a long-running narcotics network with alleged connections across the border. They have arrested the infamous gangster and drug lord Gulzar Ahmed, also known as Lau Gujjar, who has been evading capture for over a decade and is wanted in several criminal cases.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh stated that Gujjar has been a major supplier of drugs in the region. “We have credible evidence linking him to a cross-border operation between Jammu, Punjab, and Pakistan, suggesting he is part of an organized crime and terror network. It appears he has been receiving heroin through drones from across the border,” Singh said.
When he was arrested on April 4, police discovered a pistol, made in Pakistan, in his possession. Three of his accomplices were also taken into custody, and authorities seized over 700 grams of heroin during the operation.
Singh noted that Gujjar has a long criminal history and is associated with numerous cases across different police stations in Jammu. “His associates indicated that he might be implicated in around 100 FIRs (First Information Reports) throughout the country,” he added.
To further investigate this case, a special team has been formed.
