Much Expands Services with New Tech Practice Led by Former Actuate Law Attorneys

CHICAGO, April 7, 2026 – Much Law Firm has announced the creation of a new practice area focused on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), financial services, fintech, and data privacy. This expansion is bolstered by the addition of five lawyers from Actuate Law, including four based in Chicago and one in Miami, enhancing Much’s presence in Florida.

Dara Tarkowski, who previously served as the Managing Partner at Actuate Law, will head the new practice as a principal. Alongside her are attorneys Andrea Halverson, Stacy Rodriguez, Maureen Ryan, and James Ward.

“Our growth plan starts with finding the right talent,” stated Much’s Managing Partner, Courtney Mayster. “This new practice is not only tailored to our clients’ current needs but is also designed to anticipate future demands. We aim to offer innovative counsel that keeps our clients at the forefront of their industries.”

As businesses increasingly adopt new technologies and AI, compliance with regulations is becoming more complex. The newly formed team will assist clients with a range of legal services, from day-to-day compliance and regulatory strategies to intricate transactions, government representation, and high-stakes litigation.

Tarkowski’s team brings a wealth of experience covering financial services, fintech, digital assets, data privacy, AI, and more. She expressed enthusiasm about this transition, highlighting the mutual benefits for clients. “As our clients evolve, they need more sophisticated support in complex mergers and acquisitions. Much’s strong reputation in these areas ensures we can meet those needs.”

In 2018, Tarkowski co-founded Actuate Law with a vision to provide a more efficient and entrepreneurial approach to legal services, breaking away from traditional models. She noted how Much’s entrepreneurial spirit aligns with her goals for client service. “I knew Much would be a great fit for my team and our clients. The leadership here values diverse perspectives and bold initiatives, which is very inspiring.”

This move follows another recent expansion for Much, which welcomed new attorneys from Fenton Jurkowitz Law Group last October, enhancing its Health Care practice and establishing a new office in Los Angeles. Much will also take over Actuate Law’s Miami office in this latest growth phase.
