Mumbai Indians Stay Grounded Ahead of Clash with Rajasthan Royals

As the excitement builds around Rajasthan Royals’ young star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Mumbai Indians are taking a pragmatic approach, emphasizing that their game plan will remain unchanged.

In the lead-up to their match in Guwahati, MI’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, pointed out that Sooryavanshi isn’t a complete newcomer. “This is his second year, so he’s not new to us,” Mhambrey explained, recognizing the teenager’s impressive early season performances as worthy of admiration.

Despite the buzz surrounding the 15-year-old, Mhambrey insisted that they won’t change their preparation. “We know he’s a good player, but our approach will remain the same as it is for any other player,” he said, highlighting the team’s aim to keep their strategies straightforward and effective.

Mhambrey also addressed the performance of Rajasthan Royals’ spinner, Ravi Bishnoi, who has stood out this season. He dismissed the idea that Bishnoi is a “mystery” bowler. “He’s been around long enough for teams to know what he can do,” Mhambrey noted, suggesting that fluctuations in performance are normal in cricket. “Every player has ups and downs,” he added.

Moving forward, MI plans to treat Bishnoi like any other bowler, adapting their strategies to the circumstances of the match instead of relying on preconceived notions.

The Mumbai Indians are looking to recover from their recent loss to Delhi Capitals, where they notably missed captain Hardik Pandya, who was unable to play due to illness. Suryakumar Yadav filled in as the stand-in captain for that match.

With Pandya anticipated to return, MI is optimistic about restoring balance as they prepare to face a confident Rajasthan Royals team, where managing Sooryavanshi and their strong batting lineup will be crucial for a successful outcome.
