Ahmedabad Cracks Down on Illegal Advertisements and Sanitation Violations
Ahmedabad: As part of the newly enforced model code of conduct, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a campaign to eliminate illegal advertisements from the city. As of Sunday, the AMC has successfully removed 121 hoardings, 142 banners, and 208 flags across various areas.
The West Zone saw the most action, with 46 hoardings and 50 banners taken down. In addition to this, the solid waste management team in the West Zone conducted a three-day operation targeting sanitation violations and banning the use of plastic.
During this intensive crackdown, flying squads inspected 519 businesses, issuing notices to 314 of them and collecting ₹2.8 lakh in fines. They seized 10.5 kg of banned plastic items, and eight establishments—such as the Vir Krupa Refree Parlor in Nava Vadaj and Magnum Parlor in Chandkheda—were sealed for causing disturbances in the community.
Officials noted that these enforcement drives, alongside public awareness initiatives, will continue to promote hygiene and compliance in the city.
