Bombardier Delivers Its First Global 8000 Jet to NetJets

MONTREAL—Bombardier has made a significant move by handing over its first Global 8000 business jet to NetJets, the largest private aviation company in the world. The delivery took place at Bombardier’s Completion Centre in Montreal, attended by employees, NetJets’ leaders, and invited guests.

NetJets, the launching customer for the Global 8000, aims to establish a fleet of 24 aircraft of this model. They also plan to upgrade their existing Global 7500 jets to match the Global 8000’s advanced features, with hopes of expanding their fleet in the future.

The Global 8000 is making waves in the business aviation sector. It boasts a maximum speed of Mach 0.95, making it the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde. With a range of 8,000 nautical miles, it enables direct flights between distant cities, such as New York and Hong Kong or San Francisco and Sydney.

The Global 8000: A New Standard in Business Aviation

The Bombardier Global 8000 redefines what a business jet can do. With a top speed of Mach 0.95 (about 627 miles per hour) and an incredible 8,000 nautical miles range, this jet can make nonstop flights that were once impossible for business aircraft.

This aircraft offers the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet, which reduces passenger fatigue on long flights. It includes innovative systems designed to minimize the effects of jet lag. For example, Bombardier’s Pũr Air System and the Soleil circadian lighting system work together to enhance passenger comfort and well-being during flights.

Despite its long-range abilities, the Global 8000 achieves takeoff and landing performance similar to lighter jets, allowing access to more than 2,000 additional airports around the world.

A Cabin Designed for Comfort

The Global 8000 stands out with its spacious four-zone cabin layout. It features a dedicated private stateroom with a luxurious bed, a conference suite for meetings, and a large kitchen area for meals prepared by flight attendants. The Nuage seat, a unique design by Bombardier, offers customizable comfort for passengers.

Passengers can control cabin settings, from lighting to entertainment, via an advanced touchscreen system. High-speed Wi-Fi is available on board, with plans to add Starlink satellite connectivity for even better service.

A Long-Standing Partnership

Patrick Gallagher, President of NetJets Aviation, remarked that the Global 8000 truly reflects the values shared by both companies. Meanwhile, Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier, described the delivery as a significant milestone, emphasizing the unmatched luxury and performance this aircraft brings to the market.

NetJets, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has been a leader in private aviation for over 60 years, offering a wide range of services to its clients worldwide. With the addition of the Global 8000, NetJets strengthens its position in the ultra-long-range segment, where speed and range are essential.

About Bombardier and NetJets

Bombardier, a prominent player in the business aviation market, operates from facilities across Canada, the US, and Mexico. They support a global fleet of over 5,200 aircraft with multiple service centers worldwide.

NetJets, originally founded as Executive Jet Airways in 1964, provides a variety of aviation services, from shared ownership to aircraft management. The Global 8000 now serves as the flagship of its fleet.
