Sayali Satghare Reflects on a Remarkable Few Months in Cricket

Indian women’s cricketer Sayali Satghare has shared how the recent months have been exceptionally memorable for her. After being released by the Gujarat Giants and not being selected in the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, her luck turned around when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) brought her on as a replacement for Ellyse Perry, who had to step back from the tournament for personal reasons.

Satghare played a crucial role in helping RCB secure their second WPL title. Following this success, she made her Test debut in a pink-ball match against Australia at the WACA in Perth, where she was among the debutants alongside Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, and Kashvee Gautam. Reflecting on her journey, Satghare emphasized that while winning the WPL was a significant achievement, making her Test debut for India was a dream she had long pursued.

“The last few months have been truly special. After winning the WPL, getting the chance to make my Test debut is incredible. Debuting at a venue like WACA is what every fast bowler dreams of. Representing India in any format is a monumental honor,” she told ESPNcricinfo.

Special Moments on the Field

In her debut Test, Satghare stood out as India’s leading bowler, even though the team faced a 10-wicket defeat. She finished the first innings with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 50 runs, showcasing her skill with the pink ball. One of her proudest moments was bowling out Georgia Voll with a precise inswinger.

Satghare mentioned that she came close to dismissing Alyssa Healy earlier in the match. During her second spell, she trapped Healy on the pads, but a review showed that the ball had pitched outside the off stump. Nevertheless, Satghare eventually got her wicket when Healy misjudged a shot to Jemimah Rodrigues.

“When it comes to memorable wickets, the dismissal of Voll stands out for me. The lbw appeal against Healy was very close as well. Had she been dismissed, it would have been even more special since it was her last game and last innings,” Satghare noted.

Having made her One Day International (ODI) debut against Ireland in Rajkot last year, she has taken three wickets in her first three matches, maintaining an economy rate of 4.65. Although Satghare has already played Tests and ODIs, she is yet to make her T20I debut.

Conclusion

Sayali Satghare’s journey so far has been nothing short of inspiring, marked by significant achievements and cherished moments on the field. As she continues her cricketing career, her determination and talent promise even more exciting adventures ahead.
