First Ray Films has revealed the teaser poster for their exciting new action thriller, Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business. This announcement comes on the birthday of actor and director Anshuman Jha, making it a double celebration for both the film and Jha.
The story revolves around the endangered Celebes crested macaque, a rare monkey from Indonesia, also known as the North Sulawesi “Yaki Monkey.” The film is set to make its worldwide debut during Diwali 2026 and is expected to be a major attraction for festival-goers. Before its release, the movie will also take part in several film festivals from June to November, generating buzz and excitement.
Directed by Anshuman Jha, the sequel picks up the story of Arjun Bakshi, a vigilante who loves animals and aims to protect them from cruelty. This time, he ventures into the forests of West Java, Indonesia, to tackle the urgent issue of wildlife trafficking. The movie promises to combine thrilling hand-to-hand combat with a powerful environmental message, continuing the spirit of the first film, which featured a hero motivated by compassion rather than revenge.
Joining Anshuman in the film are Sarah Jane Dias, Adil Hussain, Vikram Kochhar, and international martial arts star Sunny Pang, known for his work in Havoc with Tom Hardy. The diverse cast, which also includes Dan-Chupong from Ong-Bak, emphasizes the film’s goal of telling a global story while addressing pressing ecological issues.
In sharing his thoughts about the film, Jha expressed his deep personal connection to the project. He spoke of his inspiration from Lord Hanuman, symbolizing strength and service, and mentioned that this film serves as a tribute to both the animals of our planet and the importance of respecting nature.
Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business is set for its theatrical release worldwide during Diwali 2026.
