Rohan Vinayak Music Shines with ‘Subedaar’ Soundtrack
The talented music director duo, Rohan Utpat and Vinayak Salvi, known as Rohan Vinayak Music, is garnering attention for their original background score and the captivating song ‘Lalla’ featured in the action drama film Subedaar, starring Anil Kapoor. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film showcases the powerful track sung by Vishal Dadlani during a crucial scene.
In a recent interview, Rohan shared insights about their collaboration with Triveni, highlighting their long-standing relationship spanning over a decade. “When Suresh approached us for Subedaar, he had a distinct vision for the sound, aiming for something raw and intense, quite different from our previous work,” he said.
Rather than focusing on traditional melodies, Rohan and Vinayak designed a sound-driven background score. They incorporated textured soundscapes, industrial tones, and atmospheric synths to reflect the psychological depth of Anil Kapoor’s character.
Rohan explained that the film’s musical identity took shape early in the production. “We composed the Subedaar theme months before the teaser was released. It served as the foundation for our background score, allowing us to explore unique sound textures that breathe life into the visuals.”
The duo opted for unconventional sound elements to enhance the film’s tense environment, using everything from mechanical sounds to drilling effects, creating an immersive experience for the audience.
About the standout track ‘Lalla’, Vinayak noted that it represents the protagonist’s emotional journey. “It’s not your typical song; it’s almost like the character expressing suppressed anger and energy through music. We aimed to capture that emotional outburst,” he explained.
The song blends gritty rock-grunge energy with powerful instrumentation, while live string sections, particularly cellos, add depth to Subedaar’s sonic landscape.
Vinayak praised director Suresh Triveni for encouraging creativity. “We had a clear direction for the music but also the freedom to experiment and push boundaries. The aim was to ensure the emotional turmoil felt genuine,” he said, also noting that Vishal Dadlani’s involvement took the song to a new level. “His voice truly elevated the track, and we’re thrilled to see it trending and receiving love from audiences.”
Rohan Vinayak Music has an impressive portfolio, having composed for various films like Nil Battey Sannata, Sarkar 3, Lootcase, and 102 Not Out, along with several notable Marathi films.
Subedaar is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
