Special Screening of “Haq” to Celebrate International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation is hosting a special screening of the film “Haq.” This impactful movie tells the story of a woman fighting for her dignity, justice, and rightful status in society.

Directed by Suparn Verma, “Haq” is inspired by the famous legal battle of Shah Bano, a pivotal moment in India’s dialogue on women’s rights and equality before the law. The film delves into the emotional and legal experiences of a woman who defies norms to claim what is rightfully hers.

The screening is set to happen on March 7, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Regent Cinema, with Pranav Kumar attending as the Chief Guest. This event is organized under the leadership of Rachna, IAS, the Managing Director of the Bihar State Film Development & Finance Corporation. It highlights cinema that addresses socially relevant themes.

Produced by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta, Harman Baweja, and Vicky Jain, “Haq” presents a story that resonates universally, reflecting themes of resilience and the quest for justice. By showcasing this film on International Women’s Day, organizers aim to initiate meaningful discussions about gender equality and the importance of acknowledging women’s rights.

Director Suparn Verma commented, “Haq is more than just a film; it embodies the bravery required for a woman to assert her rights. The story of Shah Bano is an important part of India’s social history, deserving of attention and discussion. I hope viewers reflect on our progress regarding women’s rights and acknowledge how much further we still have to go.”

The film features powerful performances by Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, adding depth to its compelling narrative. With its strong storytelling and significant themes, “Haq” aims to shine a light on issues of justice, equality, and social change.
