Rapper Badshah has issued an apology after receiving criticism for his new song, “Tateeree.” Several women’s groups raised concerns about certain lyrics, claiming they were disrespectful and offensive.
On March 7, Badshah took to Instagram to express his regret through a video and announced that the song would be removed from digital platforms. He emphasized that it was never his intention to hurt anyone, especially from Haryana, where he hails from.
In his video, Badshah stated, “I’ve noticed that parts of my lyrics might have upset many people. I pride myself on my Haryana roots, and I never meant to say anything inappropriate about women or children from my state.” He added that the lyrics were intended to reflect the competitive spirit often found in hip-hop culture, aimed at rivals rather than targeting anyone specifically.
The situation escalated when various women’s organizations formally complained, labeling some lyrics as indecent. An FIR has been filed at the Cyber Police Station in Panchkula, under sections of the law addressing indecent representation of women.
Badshah’s efforts to apologize and withdraw the song seem to be his way of addressing and calming the mounting concerns from the public.
