Shubman Gill Shines in Nets Ahead of IPL 2026

Shubman Gill is gearing up for the IPL 2026 season with a bang. During a recent practice session with the Gujarat Titans, fans were treated to a video of him hitting impressive sixes, showcasing his skill and focus as the new season approaches.

The excitement among fans is palpable as they eagerly anticipate Gill’s return to form. After facing some tough times internationally, this display feels like a strong declaration from the young player, signaling his desire to bounce back.

Recent Challenges

Gill’s journey hasn’t been easy lately. A neck injury had slowed him down, and he faced a tough Test and ODI series against South Africa that drew criticism. The situation became even more frustrating when he was left out of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, following a series of underwhelming performances in prior matches.

As the Indian team shifts its focus to the Super 8 stage, Gill is now fully dedicated to his role in franchise cricket. The Gujarat Titans have kicked off their preparations, and their captain seems committed to hitting the ground running.

Intentions Clear in Practice

The recent nets session displayed Gill’s determination. He was not only connecting well with the ball but also consistently aiming for the boundaries, honing his power-hitting skills.

Previously, Gill had a brief stint opening with Abhishek Sharma in the T20I setup, but he was unable to secure his spot before the World Cup roster was announced. Now, the IPL presents him with the perfect opportunity to prove himself in white-ball cricket once again.

High Hopes for the New Season

In IPL 2025, Gill showcased his talent by becoming the fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 650 runs in 15 matches, with an impressive average of 50 and a strike rate of 155.88. Despite his strong individual performance, the Gujarat Titans fell short against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.

This upcoming season is a fresh start for Gill. As captain, he aims not only to score heavily but also to lead his team deep into the playoffs. If his early form in practice is an indication, he is already on track to make a significant impact.
