LS Cable & System USA Invests $50 Million to Expand Tarboro Facility

LS Cable & System USA, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System Ltd., has announced a substantial investment of $50 million to expand its manufacturing facility located in Tarboro, North Carolina. This move highlights the company’s dedication to bolstering advanced manufacturing in the U.S., enhancing the supply chain, and playing a vital role in the country’s energy infrastructure.

The forthcoming expansion will introduce two additional Continuous Catenary Vulcanization (CCV) production lines, which will greatly increase the manufacturing capacity for medium-voltage power distribution cables. These lines are expected to meet the rising demand from electric utilities, renewable energy projects, data centers, and industrial clients across North America. Additionally, the investment will raise the workforce at the Tarboro facility from 250 to 335 employees.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein expressed confidence in the state’s ability to support LS Cable & System. “We are proud to have the largest manufacturing workforce in the Southeast, making North Carolina an appealing location for companies looking to expand,” he said.

Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley also welcomed the expansion, stating that it would strengthen North Carolina’s manufacturing sector and create job opportunities for rural communities.

Senator Thom Tillis remarked, “This investment by LS Cable & System shows their confidence in North Carolina’s workforce and helps build a more resilient supply chain.” He emphasized that this expansion reflects the ongoing need for advanced manufacturing to support America’s energy infrastructure.

U.S. Congressman Don Davis noted that the investment exemplifies LS Cable & System’s commitment to creating jobs and fostering economic growth in the region. “As energy needs increase across the country, expansions like these are essential for building the necessary infrastructure,” he added.

Senator Ted Budd commented on LS Cable & System being a crucial part of eastern North Carolina’s economic landscape, stating it plays an important role in creating well-paying jobs and revitalizing domestic manufacturing.

Mayor Tate Mayo of Tarboro expressed pride in the company’s decision to expand in the area, emphasizing the positive impact on the local economy and infrastructure.

Bon-Kyu Koo, President & CEO of LS Cable & System, shared that the investment aims to enhance their global manufacturing capabilities while also focusing on local production needs. As demand grows for improved energy solutions and grid modernization, this expansion positions LS Cable & System to better serve its customers and partners.

Looking ahead, LS Cable & System USA has plans to continue investing in North America, establishing itself as a significant player in the production of medium-voltage power cables while contributing to the overall economic growth in the region.
