Amaravati Set to Become Global Hub for Quantum Technology

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Saturday that Amaravati will transform into a major center for quantum technology, aiming to lead a new wave of technological advancements in India.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for “Amaravati Quantum Valley,” the state’s first integrated quantum ecosystem, Naidu shared his vision of creating a skilled community to join the global quantum revolution while improving infrastructure in the region.

With 2026 declared as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, Naidu believes this era will be marked as a “quantum transition movement,” emphasizing that quantum technology will be crucial as tech capabilities grow around the world.

He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, such as the rollout of BSNL 4G services, which he noted would serve as a stepping stone toward 6G communications in the future.

Naidu urged India to deliver a variety of technological products to the global market. He reflected on his past challenges promoting IT and mobile technology, stating that many past critics now have children working in the IT sector in the U.S.

The Chief Minister’s long-term planning spans the next 30 to 40 years, highlighting that nations embracing technology will sustain growth. Amaravati is set to become a center for quantum designs, products, and intellectual property creation, along with conducting research in fields like defense, healthcare, energy, finance, and climate modeling.

He extended his gratitude to major tech companies like IBM, TCS, and Larsen & Toubro for helping establish India’s first 133-qubit quantum computer center in the state.

The event also featured Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, along with other government officials and representatives from prominent tech firms and universities.

The proposed Amaravati Quantum Valley Towers will cover 50 acres in Uddandarayunipalem, with the collaborative effort aiming to push the boundaries of research in quantum computing, communications, sensors, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, defense, healthcare, and finance.

Singh announced that the Prime Minister’s plans to develop Visakhapatnam into a deep-sea research center are moving forward quickly. He also noted that ₹6,000 crore has been allocated for the National Quantum Mission, which will support research and innovation across various sectors.

Lastly, Singh highlighted the increasing demand for quantum technology experts and mentioned that educational programs, including B Tech degrees in quantum technologies, are in progress, with M Tech courses expected to follow soon.
