IDF Strikes Take Down Key Hamas Leader
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Wednesday that they eliminated a Hamas commander linked to the murder of Cpl. Noa Marciano while she was being held captive in Gaza. The strike targeted Muhammad Issam Hassan al-Habil and other terrorists after a Hamas attack that injured IDF troops, which violated a ceasefire agreement.
Al-Habil was killed during an airstrike on the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. An IDF statement confirmed, “In response to the nighttime ceasefire violation, the IDF and ISA targeted and eliminated Muhammad Issam Hassan al-Habil, head of a Hamas terrorist cell.”
Following al-Habil’s death, Marciano’s mother, Adi Marciano, expressed a mixture of sorrow and hope, stating, “There is no real comfort in this… but there is knowledge that justice was done, even if only partially.” Her daughter, 19, was abducted during a Hamas attack on October 7 and was later wounded in an airstrike while in captivity.
Marciano’s body was recovered in November 2023 and returned to her hometown in Modi’in for burial. The IDF emphasized their ongoing commitment to hold accountable those involved in the brutal acts against Israeli civilians.
The escalation included multiple attacks on IDF forces overnight, resulting in targeted revenge strikes to eliminate threats in the area.
In addition to al-Habil, the strikes also resulted in the deaths of Bilal Abu Assi, a Hamas commander involved in the October 7 massacre, and Ali Raziana, a commander of the Islamic Jihad in Northern Gaza.
The IDF continues to be vigilant, operating against threats from terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the safety of Israeli civilians and troops.
