The Delhi High Court has instructed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to issue an official order to appoint a legal firm for Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, the brother of actor Celina Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since September 2024. The court emphasized the need to expedite this process and requested that the MEA submit an affidavit if any issues arise with the order.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav presided over the case and highlighted that Vikrant Jaitly should be granted legal representation, provided he has no objections to the proposed law firm. The next hearing is set for February 10.
During the hearing, it was revealed that the law firm suggested by Celina Jaitly’s lawyer has offered to represent Vikrant Jaitly for free in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The lawyer also mentioned that the firm has already gathered essential information to proceed with the case. The court acknowledged that this legal firm was one of the options previously suggested by Vikrant Jaitly himself.
Celina Jaitly has been advocating for her brother’s legal support for several months, and this recent court directive is a positive step toward securing legal representation and making progress in the situation.
