Digital18 Media Claims Rights to OMG Franchise
In a significant announcement, Digital18 Media Private Limited has declared its legal rights over the OMG (Oh My God) franchise. This public notice, released on January 10, 2026, through Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine, warns all individuals and companies against creating, marketing, or producing any sequels, prequels, or spin-offs based on OMG 2 (2023) without their written permission.
The notice states that Digital18 is the successor to the studio operations of Viacom18 Media Private Limited following a court-approved arrangement effective from November 14, 2024. This agreement gives Digital18 joint ownership of all rights connected to the OMG 2 film, including its brand and goodwill.
All parties are being cautioned that any attempt to produce or finance a sequel or related project without Digital18’s consent will be considered a legal infringement. The notice emphasizes that no third party can develop or announce related works linked to OMG 2 without prior written approval. It also warns that using similar titles or marketing materials could misrepresent and dilute their proprietary rights.
This notice comes amid rumors about the development of OMG 3, tentatively titled Oh My Goddess. Reports suggest this project will feature Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji, with Kumar likely to have a significant cameo similar to his role in OMG 2.
Recent reports indicate that Oh My Goddess is expected to begin filming in February 2026. The speculation regarding franchise rights likely prompted Digital18 to clarify its ownership publicly.
The notice concludes by stating that any unauthorized sequels or branding resembling the OMG franchise will be treated as violations of legal rights.
