Financial Troubles Hit Telugu Film Industry: Mohanlal’s Fee Demands Cause Stir
The Telugu film industry is facing serious financial challenges, and the situation is becoming increasingly concerning. A recent project featuring the renowned actor Chiranjeevi has run into significant monetary issues, causing quite a stir.
The film, which is yet to be titled and is being directed by Bobby, initially hoped to include Mohanlal in a special cameo as a goodwill gesture. This role was expected to be similar to Amitabh Bachchan’s famous guest appearance in the Rajinikanth film Andha Kanoon.
Director Bobby reached out to Mohanlal, believing that their long-standing friendship could encourage him to accept the role without payment. However, plans took an unexpected turn when Mohanlal requested a fee of ₹30 crore for the cameo. This demand left the producers in shock, forcing them to quickly search for another actor willing to take on the role without a fee.
A source close to the situation revealed, “Right now, Telugu producers simply can’t afford to pay ₹30 crore to any top actor, even for a major role, let alone for a cameo.”
This incident illustrates the financial strain that the Telugu film industry is currently undergoing, where even high-profile collaborations are being reconsidered due to increasing costs and limited budgets.
