As international travel resumes, many travelers face challenges in staying connected. Swapping SIM cards, managing roaming fees, and juggling various apps can be quite frustrating. Istanbul-based startup Roamless aims to simplify this process.
Roamless recently secured $12 million in a Series A funding round, led by Rasmal Ventures, with additional investments from Shorooq, Revo Capital, Finberg, and JIMCO. This round boosts the company’s total funding to $18 million, following a $6 million seed round in 2024.
A Global Mobile Operator for Travelers
Founded in 2023 by Emre Demirel (CEO), Ali Gazioglu, Asim Alp, Selim Aykut, and Cagdas Yalti, Roamless identified the need for a unified eSIM solution that could serve travelers more efficiently. The company plans to become the first truly global mobile operator, offering an all-in-one app that provides seamless connectivity across borders. Currently, Roamless serves over 1 million travelers and covers more than 200 countries and territories.
The company has experienced impressive growth, nearly five times year-over-year, thanks to the increasing demand for straightforward mobile connectivity while traveling.
Emre Demirel stated, “No other eSIM provider matches our level of service. We’re proud of our unique infrastructure and excited about what’s to come. This is just the beginning as we aim to offer more than just international data and calls.”
Demirel also noted that Roamless plans to introduce local market features, business-to-business options, and AI-driven enhancements to improve user experiences.
Unlike resellers like Airalo, Holafly, or Nomad, which typically bundle third-party eSIMs with limited customizations, Roamless operates its own infrastructure, allowing for better innovation and reliability. This cloud-based system provides them with control over service quality, enabling them to go beyond mere data plans.
What’s Next for Roamless?
With the new funding, Roamless plans to expand its network coverage, enhance global marketing and customer support, and strengthen partnerships with suppliers and corporations.
-
Roamless Numbers: The company will introduce a feature allowing users to obtain local phone numbers in over 20 countries, enabling local calling and texting within the app.
-
B2B Expansion: Roamless will invest in APIs and B2B solutions that help airlines, airports, online travel agencies, financial institutions, and super apps enhance connectivity for their customers.
-
Smarter Experience: AI-powered features will be launched to optimize network quality, reduce costs, and present users with the best partner offers in real time.
Additionally, Roamless plans to grow its team and improve customer service in major global travel hubs.
Soumaya Ben Beya Dridje, General Partner at Rasmal Ventures, expressed confidence in Roamless, stating, “Their founding team has a strong telecom background and a clear goal of becoming a global mobile operator. Their technology is designed for scalability, and their execution is impressive. Supporting their Series A funding reflects our belief in their vision and ability to transform the industry.”
