Fort Dodge Middle School Receives Generous Grant from National Gypsum

Fort Dodge Middle School has once again benefited from the generosity of National Gypsum. For the second consecutive year, the company has provided funding as part of its Giving Tuesday initiative. This year, the school received an impressive $40,000 grant aimed at enhancing its Industrial Technology program for the 2025-26 school year.

The funds, which have been equally contributed by both the Quarry Plant and the Gold Bond Plant, will help modernize the Industrial Technology space. This upgrade is essential for supporting hands-on learning in manufacturing, robotics, engineering, and building trades.

Leading the Quarry Plant is Dave Gollob, while Mark Dyer oversees the Gold Bond Plant. The school plans to employ a newly hired teacher, Chris Grady, who possesses industry-specific training to deliver engaging, real-world experiences for students.

Superintendent Joshua Porter expressed his enthusiasm for the donation, highlighting its transformative impact on student learning. “This donation is going to change what we can offer students at the middle school level,” he said. “Hands-on learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and CTE (Career and Technical Education) not only builds confidence but also opens up pathways to high-demand careers.”

This latest grant follows National Gypsum’s previous contribution of $35,000 in 2024, which was used to establish a Health Occupations lab at the school. This facility allows students to gain practical experience and sparks interest in careers in health care and related fields.

Porter noted the significance of the partnership with National Gypsum: “Their ongoing support shows how much they care about the future of our students and the community. This investment not only improves our classroom and lab spaces, but it also expands opportunities and guides our students toward future careers.”

Last year, the Giving Tuesday initiative from National Gypsum contributed $1 million to support 42 schools and non-profit organizations across the United States and Canada. This ongoing commitment highlights the company’s dedication to enriching educational experiences for young learners.
