Madhavan Discusses Criticism of ‘Dhurandhar’
Actor R. Madhavan has openly talked about the feedback surrounding his latest film, Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh and is directed by Aditya Dhar. In a recent interview, Madhavan reflected on the film’s release, the critiques it received, and the persistent spirit of the film industry.
Madhavan shared that he was impressed by the extensive research and bold storytelling that went into Dhurandhar. He had a strong feeling that the film would have a significant impact, despite the mixed reviews he anticipated. “I knew there would be people who would dislike it initially, but then others would be surprised by its message,” he mentioned.
Addressing the negative comments that emerged even before its premiere, Madhavan pointed out, “It seems like there was an agenda against us. People wrote off the film before it even launched, calling it a disaster.” He underscored the emotional strain that such criticism can impose on filmmakers and actors alike. “We are all part of a tight-knit family in this industry. Please, don’t dismiss us from the outside. We face enough challenges already,” he added.
Released on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar is the first part of a two-part series. Co-produced and directed by Aditya Dhar, it stars a strong ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun. The film, which draws inspiration from real-life events, particularly geopolitical tensions and covert operations, has been gaining traction at the box office and is praised for its thrilling narrative and action sequences.
Madhavan’s comments reflect the challenges faced by filmmakers, as well as the strong bond within Bollywood. The film continues to generate discussions concerning its themes and cinematic ambition.
