Organ-Harvesting Ring Exposed in Nigeria

A serious criminal operation involving organ harvesting has been discovered in Nigeria, following weeks of undercover investigations. Local authorities reported that they were prompted to act due to alarming cases of kidnappings occurring near a hotel and a mortuary in Ngor Okpala.

According to the Imo State Police, they identified a man named High Chief Stanley Oparaugo, also referred to as “Morocco,” as the suspect leading this illegal network. He is currently evading capture.

The hotel in question, Jessy Best Hotel in Ihitte Okwe, along with a nearby mortuary called Ugwudi, is believed to be involved in the crimes. Police allege that the victims were tricked into visiting the hotel, where they were robbed and abducted. In many cases, families paid ransoms, but tragically, some never saw their loved ones again.

It is further claimed that the victims were transported from the hotel to the mortuary, where they were killed, and their organs were harvested for sale.

During a police raid on the hotel, it was found deserted, but investigators discovered a disturbing number of decomposed and dismembered bodies at the mortuary. Police spokesperson Henry Okoye stated that over 100 corpses had been found in unsanitary conditions, raising serious concerns about illegal organ trade activities.

The investigation continued as authorities searched the suspect’s home, recovering crucial evidence. In light of these events, the police have heightened security along the Owerri-Aba Expressway to ensure the safety of travelers during the holiday season.

Nigeria has been grappling with rising crime, especially kidnappings and abductions. Recently, the government successfully secured the release of 100 schoolchildren who had been taken from St. Mary’s School in Niger State.

This troubling situation highlights the ongoing challenges the Nigerian government faces, especially regarding crime and the safety of its citizens.
