Pratika Rawal Celebrated with Rs 1.5 Crore for World Cup Triumph
In a remarkable recognition of her talent, Pratika Rawal has been awarded Rs 1.5 crore by the Delhi government. This honor comes in the wake of her significant contributions to India’s historic Women’s World Cup victory in 2025.
Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, shared their meeting on X, showcasing pictures and discussing the plans to reward the young star. She praised Pratika, calling her a symbol of the energy and strength of modern Delhi, saying, “Her journey illustrates that Delhi nurtures dreams and helps them soar.”
The meeting also featured discussions with Education Minister Ashish Sood and Rohan Jaitley, the President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association.
Pratika played a key role as one of India’s top run-scorers during the tournament. Partnering with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, she formed a formidable opening pair. She finished the World Cup with 305 runs in just seven matches. Unfortunately, her campaign was cut short due to an injury against Bangladesh, which led to her replacement by Amanjot Kaur for that game. Shafali Verma later stepped in for the semi-final and final and delivered an outstanding performance, helping secure India’s first World Cup title.
Following the victory, there was some concern over whether Pratika would receive a winner’s medal. Generally, players who are replaced do not receive one. However, she shared that ICC Chairman Jay Shah ensured she would receive her medal, recognizing her vital contributions.
While there’s uncertainty about her return from injury, Pratika’s career continues to flourish. She recently signed a contract with the UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League after being selected during the latest auction.
On November 2, after India’s victory in the final, Pratika, who is currently in a wheelchair, was accompanied by her teammates for post-match celebrations on the field, marking a memorable moment for her and the team.
