Khamenei: Cooperation with Trump Administration is Out of the Question

Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls Out U.S. as Unworthy of Cooperation

TEHRAN: In a recent address, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed strong disapproval of the Trump administration, stating it is “not worthy” of any contact or partnership with Iran. He dismissed rumors of Iran reaching out to Washington as a “pure lie.”

Khamenei made these comments during a speech honoring the Basij forces, a paramilitary group tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He emphasized that both the United States and Israel had failed in their objectives during the recent conflict in June, which saw a significant bombing campaign by Israel against Iran, with the U.S. also participating by targeting key Iranian nuclear sites.

The conflict triggered retaliatory missile and drone strikes from Iran, effectively halting the ongoing nuclear negotiations that had started in April. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel has been in effect since June 24.

During his speech, Khamenei praised the unity among the Iranian people throughout the conflict, noting that even those with differing views supported the government. He highlighted the importance of maintaining this solidarity.

In response to previous claims from Trump that U.S. military actions had dismantled Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Khamenei dismissed these assertions bluntly, encouraging Trump to “keep dreaming.” The extent of damage caused by the strikes is still unclear, with various reports suggesting that the U.S. military actions may have delayed Iran’s nuclear program by one to two years, contradicting earlier intelligence that indicated only a small setback.

The remarks from Khamenei underline Iran’s determination to stand firm against what it perceives as external threats and confirms its stance on maintaining national sovereignty.
