Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that he had a fruitful interaction with Indian-origin tech entrepreneurs and community leaders in Johannesburg, urging them to deepen their engagement with India and strengthen the growing people-to-people ties between the two nations.
In a series of posts on X, Modi said the entrepreneurs shared insights into their work across FinTech, social media platforms, agriculture, education, healthcare and medical devices. “Called upon them to deepen their engagement with India and work closely with our people,” he wrote.
Modi, who is in Johannesburg during the G20 Leaders’ Summit, also met members of the Indian community active in various organisations across South Africa. “They shared their experiences on various issues and were very appreciative of India’s strides across different fields,” he said. He urged them to “keep up the momentum” of strengthening people-to-people linkages and to promote Indian culture, including Yoga and Ayurveda.
The Prime Minister described South Africa’s Indian diaspora as a living bridge between the two countries. “The prime minister emphasised their role as ‘a living bridge’ between the two countries.
