Trump Denies Involvement in Family Business Amid Hotel Deal in Maldives
WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed concerns about potential conflicts of interest related to his family business, the Trump Organization. This comes as the organization plans to open a new hotel in the Maldives in collaboration with a Saudi development firm.
During a meeting in the Oval Office with the Saudi crown prince, Trump was asked whether his presidency might pose any issues for the Trump Organization’s dealings with Saudi Arabia.
In his response, Trump emphasized, “I have nothing to do with the family business. I’ve stepped away completely and dedicated my full energy to my role as president. What my family does is their business, and they operate globally.”
He added that while the Trump Organization has engaged very little with Saudi Arabia, he believes there is potential for future opportunities, stating, “Anything they have done has been very good.”
