Gamma Secures $68 Million to Accelerate Visual Storytelling Platform

Gamma, an innovative AI platform focused on visual storytelling, has successfully completed a $68 million Series B funding round, bringing its total valuation to $2.1 billion. Led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, the funding also saw participation from Accel, Uncork Capital, and other investors. As part of this round, Gamma is offering a $20 million secondary offering to reward its early employees, showcasing the founders’ commitment to shared success. Overall, the company has raised approximately $90 million—significantly less than many of its competitors.

The new capital will be directed towards enhancing product development and expanding Gamma’s workforce to meet the growing demand for its services.

Standing Out in a Competitive Landscape

In an industry where many tech startups often focus on rapid growth at the cost of profitability, Gamma has carved out a unique position for itself. The company has managed to stay profitable for over two years, achieving an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $100 million while initially securing just $23 million in funding and maintaining a lean team of 50 employees.

Gamma’s growth has been organic and fueled by a dedicated user base of 70 million. Since its inception, users have generated over 400 million presentations, websites, and interactive documents, with more than 1 million new pieces of content created daily. This impressive adoption rate has allowed Gamma to thrive without overextending its resources.

Launched in 2020 by Grant Lee and his team, Gamma emerged as a smarter alternative to traditional tools like PowerPoint in 2022. Its growth has been steady and strategic, focusing on the quality of its products and profitability rather than chasing large funding rounds.

Transforming Visual Communication

What began as a simple presentation tool has grown into a comprehensive visual communication platform. Gamma allows users to easily convert rough ideas or outlines into polished presentations, documents, and websites, regardless of their design skills.

The latest version, Gamma 3.0, features a built-in design agent that can quickly turn unstructured input into well-designed visual content. With an easy-to-use interface and collaborative features, the platform has become popular among teams, educators, and businesses aiming to share ideas more effectively.

Describing itself as a “visual storytelling platform,” Gamma empowers users to illustrate complex ideas visually and interactively, moving beyond the limitations of static slides.

“Using Gamma has transformed how we communicate. We’ve made it a vital part of our processes,” said Sarah Wang, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz. “We’re thrilled to support this impressive team and their groundbreaking product.”

Jaspar Eyears, CEO of Another Company—Latin America’s largest independent PR and marketing agency—shared his experience: “We no longer rely on PowerPoint; every document we create now goes through Gamma, saving us at least 50,000 hours a year. This shift allows our teams to focus on what truly matters.”

Grant Lee, CEO and co-founder of Gamma, expressed his vision: “Gamma addresses a universal challenge—everyone has valuable ideas, but not everyone can present them appealingly. We’re leveling the playing field. This is the future of storytelling in business.”
