Before the audience dove into the festive Diwali release of Thamma, they were shown a brief 60-second teaser for the upcoming film Shakti Shalini. This exciting announcement confirmed that Aneet Padda will take on the lead role, with the film set to be released on December 24, 2026. Interestingly, this date was previously reserved for Mahavatar, a film featuring Vicky Kaushal, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films. Maddock is also behind Thamma, with Amar involved as a producer and mentor.
In a recent interview, Amar shared his thoughts on Mahavatar, calling it his most ambitious project to date. When asked if the film’s timeline had shifted, he stated, “Yes. We’ve been preparing for about 6-7 months now. The set design, weapon design, and character looks are all in place. The script is ready, but we still need more time. Vicky will soon wrap up his other projects and then start his preparation. We aim to begin filming by mid-next year.”
Amar reflected on his inspiration for the film, noting his childhood in Arunachal Pradesh and his fascination with the character Parshuram. He expressed, “Growing up, people talked about Parshuram, and I was drawn to his story. Now, finally, I feel ready to tell it, thanks to my experience with VFX.”
His recent success with Stree 2, which has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film, has also given Amar confidence in taking on this massive project. He added, “You have to prove yourself to earn big responsibilities, and I wouldn’t have tackled this earlier in my career. Honestly, I still feel a bit scared!”
Mahavatar promises to bring fresh perspectives to the screen, with Vicky Kaushal set to portray the character of Chiranjeevi Parashurama. Fans eagerly await its release, scheduled just in time for Christmas 2026.
