India has seen a notable decline in its goods exports to the United States, dropping by 12% in September compared to the same month last year. Despite this downturn, total exports rose by 6.74%, supported primarily by increased shipments to the UAE and China. However, a significant rise in imports of gold, silver, and fertilizers has inflated the trade deficit to $31.15 billion, marking the highest level in over a year, according to a report from the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned in a press briefing that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to halting oil purchases from Russia. Trump labeled this decision as a crucial move to help financially isolate Moscow.
On another note, the Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai, made a rare announcement stating it has revised its earlier recommendation regarding the transfer of a judge. Initially, on August 25, the collegium suggested transferring Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, Justice Atul Sreedharan, to the Chhattisgarh High Court following the government’s request for reconsideration.
