GalaxEye Sets to Launch Groundbreaking Earth Observation Satellite
GalaxEye, a space technology start-up, announced on Monday that it plans to launch the first-ever multi-sensor Earth observation satellite, named “Mission Drishti,” in the first quarter of next year. This launch will kickstart a series of satellite deployments over the next four years.
The new satellite will provide impressive resolution of 1.5 meters, allowing governments, defense agencies, and various industries to conduct detailed geospatial analysis for numerous applications. These include activities like border surveillance, disaster management, infrastructure monitoring, agriculture, and even financial assessments, giving real-time insights into environmental and structural conditions.
Suyash Singh, the co-founder and CEO of GalaxEye, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “With Mission Drishti, we’re embarking on a new era of actionable data derived from space exploration. For the first time globally, we’re using multiple sensing technologies on one platform to observe the Earth in ways never before possible.”
Over the next four years, the company aims to launch between 8 and 10 satellites. Weighing in at 160 kg, Mission Drishti will be the largest satellite built privately in India and boasts the highest resolution ever developed in the country.
“This mission firmly establishes India on the global space stage and creates a system that transforms space technology into actionable intelligence for businesses, governments, and communities,” Singh noted. The satellite is designed to carry synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and high-resolution optical sensors, which will provide Earth observation data that is reliable in any weather and at any time.
The Drishti satellite has also gone through stringent testing, including checks in extreme temperature conditions, to ensure it can withstand the harsh realities of space. Each satellite is carefully engineered as a remote-sensing system optimized for high-precision imagery across various settings.
Singh added, “Given the recent geopolitical developments, the next generation of imaging technologies infused with AI will offer unparalleled intelligence for imagery.”
Interest in the technology has already been shown by agencies in defense, utilities, agriculture, and finance. Singh concluded, “We are excited about how this technology can enhance decision-making and operational efficiency across many sectors.”
