16 kg of Hydroponic Cannabis Seized at Lucknow Airport
Lucknow: Authorities at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport made a significant drug bust on Monday, apprehending a passenger returning from Thailand. Officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated nearly 16 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, valued at approximately ₹15.94 crores.
Based on a tip-off, DRI officials stopped the Indian traveler who arrived on flight FD-146. Upon examining his luggage, they found several vacuum-sealed packets containing a green leafy substance. Initial field tests confirmed that the substance was hydroponic cannabis, a highly potent form of marijuana grown in a controlled environment without soil, using nutrient-rich water.
Hydroponic cannabis is becoming increasingly sought after in illegal markets due to its high potency and purity. Following the discovery, the passenger was taken into custody and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985.
