Actress Shweta Tripathi has begun filming for the much-anticipated Mirzapur: The Movie. She is stepping back into the role of Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta, a character that has become a fan favorite through the web series. This marks the first time Golu will be seen in a theatrical release, taking the franchise to a new level.
Shooting is taking place in Benaras, a city that plays a significant role in the Mirzapur story. Sources say Shweta was filled with joy and emotion as she arrived on set. Having portrayed Golu for several years, she expressed how deeply connected she feels to the character.
In her own words, Shweta said, “Golu is more than just a character to me; she’s been part of my life for many years. Watching her story come to life on the big screen is both thrilling and surreal. Benaras feels like my second home. Many important moments in my career are tied to this city. From Masaan to the first two seasons of Mirzapur, and projects like Escape Live and Kalkoot, I’ve created unforgettable memories here. My trainer, Tridev Pandey, who feels like a brother to me, is also from Benaras, which makes this journey even more special. I keep coming back to this beautiful city for its warmth, food, and the wonderful people.”
Fans of the franchise are excited to see how Golu’s character develops in this new film. With Mirzapur: The Movie, the story continues, and all eyes are on Shweta as she brings Golu’s journey to the big screen.
