Bombardier Celebrates 150th Speed Record with the Global 7500

Montreal – Bombardier recently announced that its Global 7500 business jet has set an impressive milestone by achieving its 150th speed record, a feat unmatched by any other business aircraft in history.

This ultra-long-range jet has excelled in various city-pair records, including routes like Tokyo (HND) to Los Angeles (LAX), Toronto (YYZ) to Paris (CDG), New York (JFK) to London (LHR), and Hong Kong (HKG) to Montreal (YUL). Throughout 20 record-setting flights, the Global 7500 has consistently exceeded speeds of 1,000 km/h, proving its efficiency in connecting major global hubs.

In addition, this aircraft holds the record for the longest flight in business aviation history, covering a remarkable distance of 8,225 nautical miles (15,232 km) nonstop from Sydney (SYD) to Detroit (DTW).

High Performance and Efficiency

The Global 7500 is recognized for setting the benchmark in its category, featuring a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of 7,700 nautical miles (14,260 km). It stands out for providing intercontinental travel without any compromises.

One of its key features, the Smooth Flĕx Wing, enhances lift and fuel efficiency, ensuring a comfortable ride in diverse flight conditions. Previous milestones include a nonstop flight from London City Airport (LCY) to Los Angeles (LAX), showcasing both its long-range capabilities and performance at challenging airfields.

Bombardier highlights that several of these records were achieved with passengers onboard, indicating the aircraft’s reliability in everyday scenarios. Beyond its speed and distance, the Global 7500 prioritizes comfort and sustainability. Its innovative wing design not only minimizes emissions but also improves short-field access, allowing it to land at airports that other large jets may not reach.

Passengers enjoy a cabin fitted with top-notch designs, optimized for reduced cabin altitude to help combat fatigue during long flights.

Looking Ahead: The Global 8000

Building on this success, Bombardier is gearing up for the launch of the Global 8000. This new aircraft is set to offer an extended range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) and a maximum speed of Mach 0.94, aiming to be the fastest and longest-range business jet available.

With a focus on passenger well-being, the Global 8000 will also provide a lower cabin altitude, making long journeys more comfortable. Additionally, its runway performance is designed to match that of smaller jets, allowing access to airports that larger ultra-long-range jets cannot reach. This versatility will enhance operational options for corporate and private jet users looking for global connectivity and efficiency.

Bombardier’s Impact on Global Aviation

Bombardier operates a fleet of over 5,100 aircraft and maintains 10 service facilities in six countries. The company manufactures its jets in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, solidifying its presence on the global stage.

In 2024, Bombardier earned the esteemed “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award for Brands and Communication Design, affirming its excellence in innovation and performance.

As it continues to break speed records and develop the Global 8000, Bombardier is solidifying its status as a leader in the business aviation sector.
